Mustering Courage

Art
Fox painting, Garden

My new Fox in the Garden painting will be on display at Art in the Park in North Conway, NH Oct 11 & 12

I’m both excited and a little nervous about my upcoming show — Art in the Park — happening this weekend, October 11 & 12 from 10am–4pm at Schouler Park, Norcross Circle in North Conway, NH.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to share my expressive, colorful paintings—wildlife, florals, and landscapes—with art lovers and kindred spirits. I always love hearing which paintings people connect with, learning about others’ creative pursuits, and simply sharing in the joy that art brings.

That said, I’ll admit—I have some mixed feelings, too. At 63 years old, these art shows take a lot out of me physically (any artist who’s loaded and unloaded exhibits, paintings, tables, and tents will understand!). Between the long hours, setup, travel, and return to my day job on Monday, I can already feel the ache just thinking about it!

But here’s the thing: even with all the worry—Will my body hold up? Will I sell enough to cover expenses? Is it worth it?—I’ve decided yes. Because every time I step out, I grow a little stronger, my art reaches more hearts, and I move closer to my dream of being a full-time artist.

I’m choosing to show up anyway—to keep trying, keep creating, and keep saying yes to what calls me. Because in the end, we tend to regret the things we didn’t try far more than the ones we did.

If you’re in the area, I’d love to see you at Art in the Park. Come say hello, browse the work, or just share a conversation about creativity and courage.
