Love Poem Garden on Exhibit
“Love Poem Garden” by Natalie Eve Marquis
You can catch my big, colorful painting Love Poem Garden in person during the “Unspoken” exhibit, running October 1 – November 2, 2025, at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery, 136 State Street, Portsmouth.
This piece is close to my heart—it layers handwritten and typed poems I wrote more than forty years ago into acrylic paint and collage. Some words peek through like blossoms, while others stay tucked below the surface, creating a mix of what’s revealed and what’s kept quietly hidden.
In the spirit of the “Unspoken” theme, the painting explores what we choose to share and what we hold back. Bold brushstrokes carry the energy of youthful passion, while softer tones invite reflection. I hope you have fun spotting the snippets of text and seeing how the painting plays with what’s shown and what stays softly concealed.
