This painting was inspired by my sister’s deep connection to the land surrounding her home. Each spring, golden daffodils return in bright clusters beneath the trees and among the stones and boulders scattered across the property. Their arrival is something she greets with genuine joy.
She often says she can hear the daffodils speaking to her—not in words, but in the quiet language of nature. A sense of welcome. A reminder that the land is alive and in conversation with those who slow down enough to listen.
In the painting, the woman and the tree are intertwined—her presence rooted within the landscape itself. Branches reach upward into a canopy of light-filled leaves while the forest gathers around her. Several spirit messengers appear throughout the scene: a gentle rabbit, a pair of mourning doves, bright daffodils, and the grounding presence of ancient stones.
Each element carries its own quiet symbolism—renewal, peace, tenderness, and the steady wisdom of the earth.
While the painting was inspired by my sister, my hope is that it reflects something universal: the quiet joy of belonging to a place, and the subtle conversations that happen between people and the natural world.
Sometimes all we need to do is pause…
…and listen to the daffodils.
Artwork Details: An acrylic mixed media on a 36″ x 48” x 1.5” gallery wrapped canvas.
