You don’t need permission to create

Art

You don’t need to decide the course of your life or your work today. You don’t need to make a declaration, set a goal, or commit to a grand plan.

There is no urgency here. You are allowed to go slowly.
You are allowed to pause.

You are allowed to make or do things for the pure joy it brings you in the moment.

You are allowed to trust that quiet seasons are not empty— that something is gathering beneath the surface, arranging itself with care, waiting for the right conditions to reveal itself to you.

If all you do after this is notice what delights you and return when you feel the pull, that is enough.

This threshold does not close behind you. You can cross it again and again.

For now, let your presence be sufficient. Let your attention be the offering.

That is how devotion continues— naturally, playfully,
and without leaving yourself behind.

This past winter, I started writing these notes to myself and was inspired to turn them into short, reflective videos—just in case they might offer encouragement to someone else. Though they begin in the studio, the message carries into how we live our lives as well. In this last 90-second video, you can watch me paint flowers that float. Visit the Threshold series.
