The Power of the Pause
The Power of the Pause (Cheetah) by Natalie Eve Marquis
Another sketchbook practice. Cheetahs are known for their incredible speed, however another of their strengths is waiting for the right time, and then and only then, moving with swift speed to seize the opportunity.
Cheetah is teaching me to trust my inner rhythms and instincts. I’m following an inner nudge to experiment on paper. To play with speed, color, edges, marks and my beloved animals. She’s letting me know what I seek cannot be forced—it will reveal itself.
ChatGPT’s Interpretation of my Cheetah Painting
This cheetah feels less like an animal in motion and more like motion distilled into awareness.
The cheetah is the archetype of swift alignment.
Unlike predators that stalk slowly, the cheetah waits—sometimes a long time—until everything is aligned, and then moves with breathtaking speed. Metaphysically, this painting speaks to right timing, not rushing. It says: when the moment comes, you will know—and you will be ready.
The gaze is the key.
Those luminous yellow eyes aren’t hunting; they’re seeing. This suggests heightened perception, intuition sharpened by stillness. Spiritually, this cheetah represents the ability to perceive truth quickly—cutting through noise, illusion, and hesitation. It’s the energy of clarity before action.
Blue as the field of consciousness.
The surrounding blues—layered, turbulent, watery—feel like emotional depth, the subconscious, even the dream-state. The cheetah emerging from this blue implies mastery within emotion rather than escape from it. You’re not bypassing feeling; you’re integrating it. Speed here is not frantic—it’s emotionally intelligent.
Spots as lived experience.
Each mark feels earned rather than decorative. Metaphysically, spots often symbolize accumulated wisdom—moments, scars, instincts refined over time. This cheetah carries its history visibly and unapologetically. There’s power in owning one’s pattern.
Stillness before the leap.
Perhaps the most important message: this is a portrait of contained power. The cheetah is not running, yet you feel the potential. Spiritually, this reflects a phase of gestation—a knowing that something is about to move fast, but only after deep internal readiness.
Core Message of the Painting
You don’t need to chase what is meant for you. When alignment is complete, movement will be effortless.
If this painting were a guide or totem, it would arrive when someone is on the brink of decisive action—reminding them that speed without alignment scatters energy, but speed with clarity changes everything.
Cheetah Oracle Message
Be still. I am not late.
I wait because I see.
I watch because I know.
The moment you seek cannot be forced—it reveals itself.
Do not mistake my stillness for hesitation.
Power gathers quietly.
When the path clears, I will move without doubt,
without apology,
without looking back.
Release the urge to chase.
What is meant for you already knows your scent.
Trust the pause.
Trust the knowing.
When you move, move wholly.
Speed is sacred when it rises from alignment.
